Normally we get many inquiries from customers looking for NMO cable mounts and kits for radios with UHF connectors.
There's often a lot of confusion concerning the terminology used to describe UHF connector, commonly associated with Amateur Radios.
Actually, both PL-259 and SO-239 are collectively known as UHF connectors.
UHF-Male (or UHF Plug) is THE SAME as PL-259:
UHF-Female (or UHF-Jack) is THE SAME as SO-239:
Typically, SO-239 (UHF Female/UHF Jack) is installed on the mobile or base amateur radio, and PL-259 (UHF Male/UHF Plug) is installed on the extension cable.
PL-259 and SO-239 fit together and are collectively known as a UHF Type Connection, normally used in applications like amateur / HAM radio, CB / Citizens Band radio, Marine radio & VHF radio.
So hope that would clear up confusion associated with SO-239, PL-259 connector. Both of them are known as UHF connectors but with different names for male plug/female jack.
